If you have spent any time in the Pacific Northwest you have invariably heard the (sometimes seemingly endless) rain described with these two words “Liquid Sunshine!” I must admit it took me a few years to understand what people were talking about when describing the weather this way, but last year, on Memorial Day, I stepped outside after a brief spring rain and found these water drops sitting like jewels on the Japanese Maple in my front yard.

I finally understood what the term really meant..finding the joy of being alive, in a beautiful part of the world, even if it is raining. Now I get it.
